Pottery Barn Sneak Peak Christmas

I always love what Pottery Barn does for the holidays, but this year I REALLY like it ! That first picture ? Forget about it !! This year I already purchased the deer pillow. I waited too long last year and they were snapped up. Love the nostalgic feel it gives off...(just click the title of this post to take you to all things holiday at Pottery Barn.)

The Huge Weed at Our Vacation Home

We have lived in I  beautiful Ontario, Canada most of our lives so we are used to gardening in Zone 6A.  We know what is considered weeds and what isn't.  Our vacation home is in US Hardiness Zone 9B.  We bought it in March of 2010 but did not see it until May of 2010.  The house had been empty for over a year so there was a bit of overgrowth.  While we have become accustomed to some of the

Paris Design Week

Hurrying back from Normandy I just had to attend 'Paris Design Week'

The best neighborhoods, arrondissements as they are called, presented local businesses that are premiere in design; home boutiques, fashion houses and restaurants. A shuttle bus took attendees from region to region, business to business. Renown designers and chefs made personal appearances.
This is where I must be honest......it wasn't for me, I became bored, yes, in Paris, bored.

This wasn't bad, functionally
I could feel it slipping, my attention adverted elsewhere

I did love this window, particularly the skirt on the far left. Cashmere/wool blend of strong cheetah spots at the hem, slowly fading to gray.

The warmth of the orange of this lighting fixture was interesting, maybe

Then my attention diverted, again. The men of Paris are generally quite handsome........rather beautifully designed. N'est pas?

If you look closely these acrylic coffee tables on casters appealed, always loving the "mix" of vintage and new

Do you feel the same as I do about men in scarves?

Absolutely not! Or would you if you could?

Again I ask, would you if you could?

No, not this

This?

You see, contemporary appears to me, often times, as just form over function far too often

Then again, not all forms function.......
Happy weekend!

Turning Cold

It's turned rather cold here meaning that we aren't getting a lot done in the way of gardening at home or at the vacation home.  We left home in beautiful Ontario, Canada just before we had to turn on the furnace.  According to our kids who are housesitting and doing a bit of garden work there has been few days since we left that they could get anything done.  It was a balmy 90°F plus at our

Old Garden Gnome Taking a Rest

Old Garden Gnome Taking a RestSeptember 19, 2011
I love taking walks around our vacation home resort to enjoy not only the scenery and wild life but to get a bit of daily exercise.  Being a garden gnome lover, I'm always on the look-out to greet other gnomes.  I spotted this tire, old gnome taking a break from his gardening duties under the shade of a toad stool.  He must have been working

Unidentified Frog

Unidentified FrogSeptember 23, 2011
For the most part I love garden visitors.  Ok, I'm not overly happy about having some pests visit but you have to take the bad with the good.  Frogs are always a welcomed visitor in my gardens both at our permanent home and vacation home.  I'm getting to know some of the garden visitors at our vacation home.  This cute little guy was enjoying our carport.
