Small is....

JUST FINE.....

Birdfeeders

There isn't a lot of actual gardening going on this time of year but that doesn't mean thing are not happening in the garden. I attract birds to my gardens year round using plantings and feeders. Birds are natural predators to some insects that can be a nuisance in the garden. The essentials for attracting birds into the garden are food, water and shelter. These remain the same regardless of

Window Pane Cabs

Love seeing the many new ways people are putting their kitchen cabinets in. Clear glass, shelves, frosted glass...so many possibilities! Here are a few window pane looks I think are terrific!

Bold Xmas Colors

After seeing these pictures, I think Christmas decor is more about a feeling it evokes then color combinations. These colors are not traditional at all but what impact! Making the colors you have all year work at Christmas... love that!

Whats Your Favorite Xmas Colors?

Do you have a favorite Christmas color combination? I really like large doses of white with green and touches of silver. Maybe it seems like snow to me, I dunno. I like red and white together too. Do you like the traditional green and red? I've seen some interesting combinations this year!

Clean Machine

I love whats happening to laundry rooms. No longer dank and in a cold basement (well mine is) they are actually being well thought out spaces. Smaller machines for smaller spaces too. Where would your perfect spot be for your machine? Near the bedrooms seems logical to me, I'm seeing them mounted under kitchen cabs too.

On to Christmas...

Ok, so Thanksgiving is over. Its officially now Christmas. You can't deny it any longer. I will be away from home for the first time ever. I'm not quite sure how much decorating I should be doing. But since thats a month away, I figure I can still pull out stuff. I have noticed that every year I'm doing less and less. I do think less is more, but I also get when people go all out too. I just know I'll have to put it all back in a month!

Seed Catalogues

The weather has turned cold, grey and rainy with bouts of wet snow flurries, definitely not gardening weather. Walking to the mailbox isn't as enjoyable. The walk back to house was enjoyable Friday despite the nasty weather. I had the new Stokes catalogue safely tucked under my arm. Seed catalogues always bring a bit of sunshine on the dreary, cold days. I'll read through them, dog ear pages

Is Small Space a Style?

I was thinking about my blog name the other day and wondered if it made sense. Could small spaces be a style? I guess at the time I was just looking for a catchy little name. Maybe small spaces do have a unique style, then again small spaces can vary in style just like large spaces. Hmmm, I think its late and I should go to bed. In my small bedroom. That has style. Somebody stop me.

Compact Kitchens

Here are some more compact kitchens with TONS of style. I love all these...so practical but still so pretty. (2nd pictures is from the blog Apartment Therapy and the bottom from the blog Simpler things)

Small Space DIY projects

Here are a few DIY projects that can help with space and storage. Small bracket shelves can fit almost anywhere, and ottomans are very versatile. (All picture projects can be found at BHG, look for them under stylish DIY slide show.)

Raymond Wingfield, 36, was found guilty by an Anderson County jury of two counts of aggravated assault on a public servant, one count of aggravated assault, and attempted escape. Layout AGAIN

Most of you like the new layout, but it just was not sitting well with me. I agreed with some of you that it was a bit cluttered. So I'm back to the old.....

Christmas Goodies

I've been seeing lots of Christmas pictures already and have really enjoyed some of them. I've always loved a simple Christmas decor and I think these pictures are great examples of that. Decorate with things that speak to you and have meaning, you can't go wrong!

New Lay Out

I've changed the look to the blog. Let me know what you think. If you like the old better, I can be talked into changing it back! Thanks!

Pretty Dining Rooms

Although these rooms are not small small they do show how simple can be perfect for the dining room. I'm not a big fan of the table that has hardly any room for the food. I myself do not have a formal dining room, but I think a eat in kitchen can have as much style as these rooms do, just scale down to the must haves and good conversation. Do you have a formal dining room and if so do you use it everyday?

Fireplace Mantles

Fireplace mantels (for me anyways) are one of the hardest things to decorate. Basically a simple shelf to adorn however you see fit. Yeah, fits alright. I've gone months trying to figure out what to do with mine. For me I've found the simpler the better. I start trying to get cute and it just turns out bad. I look at pictures to inspire me. Right now I have 2 candles on holders and a long bowl between them. Come Christmas, I'll be back to the drawing board! How do you like your mantel done??

The Clawfoot Tub

I don't know if the clawfoot tub is the first thing you'd think of for a small space, but it seems the trend of using this sort of tub is sticking around. I myself have never been in one, but they are so charming, I've always thought I needed one (even though I take a "bath" about once or twice a year.) Does anyone have one? What do you like and dislike about it? On a side note- sorry I have not been blogging as much. I'm hoping to pick the pace back up next week! I've been so busy with family stuff! Have a great weekend everyone!

Pottery Barn Christmas Preview

I admit it, the first nip in the air and my thoughts turn to Christmas. Ok, just for a bit, but the older I get, the more a year feels like only a few months. Pottery Barn has a few Xmas shots out and I like what I see. Lots of red, which is always good. My favorite color combo for xmas is bright whites with green and silver. Is it time to get out the naught and nice list already?? Have a great weekend! (oh and its 52 degrees where I live right now, Christmas thoughts are aloud!)
